Although there is no caries in the teeth, the gum disease, which can be seen in almost every part of the child - old age, is not treated, results in bleeding, bad breath, shaking and even the loss of your teeth can be seen. Although it is usually painless, it can be noticed in the future.

What are the Main Symptoms of Gum Diseases?

The most important symptom is bleeding in the gums, the bleeding is the best indicator of gum disease. Healthy gums do not bleed under normal conditions. Except for bleeding when brushing teeth or spontaneously, swelling, redness, blue-purple discoloration of the gums, gingival recession, Gingival enlargement, loosening or displacement of the teeth, sensitivity and bad breath are also common symptoms.

Causes of Gum Disease?

The main cause of this disease is the layer known as “microbial dental plaque”, which is a combination of uncleaned food waste and bacteria from saliva. Microbial dental plaque initiates periodontal disease by destroying the tissues around the teeth.

In addition to microbial dental plaque, smoking, systemic diseases such as diabetes, leukemia and AIDS, stress, use of drugs such as heart-tension drugs, anticonvulsants, antidepressants and oral contraceptives are also effective in the formation of nutritional habits and gum disease.

.

HOW TO TREAT GUMS DISEASE?

The method of treatment in gum diseases, is determined according to the stage of the disease and the tissues it affects. The aim of the treatment of gum diseases is to remove the bacteria and structures that cause the infection. This treatment is usually plaque removal and dental calculus cleaning with ultrasonic devices. After the cleaning process, the polyturing (polishing) process is applied in order to smooth the tooth surfaces and remove the existing stains. Depending on the degree of infection, the inner surfaces of the gingival pockets and tooth root surfaces can be cleaned by applying local anesthesia.

Although a new environment has been prepared by removing harmful bacteria in the mouth after these stages, it should not be forgotten that physician-patient cooperation is very important for the preservation of this environment. Providing oral care as specified by the physician after the treatment is very important to prevent the disease from recurring and to complete the treatment.

Types of Gum Disease ?

The names of the tissues around the teeth can be defined as gingiva, jawbone and periodontal fibers connecting the teeth and jawbone. Types of gum disease are defined depending on which of the surrounding tissue the infection has affected.

Gingivitis

It is the situation where infections affect the gums. At this stage, the gums can be observed as bleeding, red and swollen, and the patient can easily feel bad breath. If the gingivitis is not treated, the disease progresses and may cause the development of periodontitis.

Periodontitis

In addition to the gingiva being affected, it is the case in which periodontal fibers and the jawbone are ethylene. A "periodontal pocket" is formed between the tooth and the gum, in which a gap that allows bacteria to settle easily is formed. This pocket facilitates the progression of the disease as it facilitates the settlement of infections. over time, the teeth try to shake, the teeth need to be pulled.

Gingival abscess and periodontal abscess: It is among the other diseases that can be seen in both these disorders.

Gum Application for Aesthetic Purposes

Even if your teeth are healthy and in shape, they do not look attractive when there is a problem in their diet. Gums that do not have an aesthetic appearance can be corrected with treatments and minor operations on the gums.

Unhealthy gums: The gums of a person who has had periodontal disease are red, swollen and shiny. They should not be treated before the aesthetic tooth operation.

Smile with gums (Gummy Smile): When smiling, some people's gums may look too big. Even if these people have an aesthetic gingival operation or not, a small operation can remove the excess gingiva and obtain a more pleasant smile.

Gum recession: When there are recessions, the teeth may appear long, in such teeth the root of the tooth is exposed. In such cases, these gaps should be closed with soft tissue grafts .

Irregular gingival margins: The gums surrounding our teeth may be too high or low in some cases (gingival recession, eruption disorder, defects arising from tooth loss, etc.). Before the aesthetic operation, the gum shapes should be brought to ideal levels.

Gum pigmentation: As a result of any injury or congenital, different colors can be seen on the gums naturally. If this coloration is on the laughing line, it should be destroyed.

Gum disease is an infectious disease of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth.
